What Scouting Means to Us

Scouting is a Game with a Purpose. Fun is the Game. Values are the Purpose. Learning is the Process. This is a favorite saying that rings true to those who venture to discover what our program is all about.

A Brief Troop History, by our very own Star Scout,Jordan C. from the Viper Patrol

"Troop 462 started in March of 2001 with around 10 boys. We have since grown to a troop of 34 some scouts. We have weekly meetings where we learn scout skills. We put what we learn to the test on our monthly campouts. The troop goes to places as close as Lacamas Lake and to places as far away as Hood Canal. During the summers we have week long camping trips where we work on merit badges. The places we have attended so far are Meriwether, Baldwin, and Parsons. We also go on 50-mile hikes and 50-mile canoe trips in the summer. The Troop participates in fund raisers during the year to help scouts earn their way to summer camps. There are also scouts raising money to help pay their own way to the National Jamboree in 2005. Scouts who wish to lead are invited to junior leader training sessions to help them hone their leadership skills so they can lead their own group of scouts or even the entire troop. Troop 462 is active in their community service to everyone."
