Flag Placement at Portsmouth
Troop 48 participates in the Memorial Day Ceremony at
Portsmouth Naval Hospital Cemetery. Troop members assist in putting the flag from
the appropriate country on the graves of the folks buried in the cemetery and
help with the set up for the ceremony.
During the Service, members may be asked to participate in the holding
the flags for the Color Guard.
New District Name
The District Committee will
defer choosing a new name until our June meeting. In the meantime, the District
Chairman asks that you consult your Scouts and Venturers,
asking them to propose new names for our district. We are very interested in
making this a participatory process, and it is possible that before the
committee acts in June, we will circulate the most popular names back to you
and ask your units to weigh in with their choice. In the meantime, we do ask
that you let the Scouts and Venturers themselves come
up with new names, although we will certainly consider names suggested by adult
leaders, as well.
Please send all suggestions and recommendations to the new District Chairman at
jimwheaton@msn.com.
Troop Scoop Info
The Troop Scoop is emailed monthly to families
involved with Troop 48 for the purpose of communication. Please contact Brenda Vaughan bjv1015@cox.net by the 25th of the
month should you have information to be included.
