On the night of March 20, 1935, a new boy scout unit was organized, in East Gadsden. The new unit was Troop 58, sponsored by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. The Leaders were V.L. Fallo Chairman of the Troop Committee, C.E. Jellicous as Scoutmaster, Henry Lowery as ASM and James Ashley as ASM. Thirteen boys joined the troop at this meeting. Mr. L E. Hood, the scout executive, was in charge of organization.
On April 18, 1935 the troop had increased to twenty-two boys and by May 1 to thirty-five.
In March of 1937, construction of the troop cabin began on the Piedmont Highway, above Goodyear. This is now where the Alabama Power Station Plant is located.
On July 3-11, 1937, Tom Smith attended the National Jamboree in Washington D.C. The Jamboree was sponsored by Goodyear. On August 1, 1937, Seven boys, and three leaders attended their first camp, Camp Big Heart, in Pansacola, FL.
In February 1938, the Scout Cabin was completed and Fay Gillbert became the troops first Eagle Scout.
In June 1938, Tom Smith becomes the second Eagle and Henry Lowery becomes the new Scoutmaster.
On October 6, 1938, The Goodyear Scout Cabin was Dedicated to A.G. Evers Chairman of Committee. 
On August 19, 1939 the troop tied for 1 place with Cedertown, Ga, at the Goodyear Field Meet held in Gadsden, AL.
On February 13, 1940 Charles Allsup became the third Eagle Scout.
On July 17, 1940, Cleo Brown was the first boy from Troop 58 to receivea trip to Canada.
In January 1941, Edward Hapton won the A.S. Evers Award for Outstanding scout of 1940.
In June 1941, Buddy Coheley and Cleo Brown become the fourth and fifth Eagle Scouts from Troop 58.
