NOVEMBER 2005
Thanksgiving
Campout: If you haven’t been paying attention, next weekend,
Nov.11-12, is the big Thanksgiving campout. Monday night we will
pack for the overnight. Friday night is usually reserved for
making noodles and getting a head start on the food. Plan on arriving
at 6:30. Directions are on the permission slip, which you should
have in your e-mail. If you haven’t already done so, print it out
and bring it Monday. Saturday morning is the “pumpkin shoot”
and Saturday afternoon the cooking gets started. By now you should
have a head count of how many in your family are coming. Tickets
are $6.50 for adults and $4.00 for children 6-11. Children under
6 are no charge. The cost for the boy scout is $20.00. This
includes $2 for ammunition. Mrs. Griffin needs an RSVP by November
7. Please be considerate and call her or let her know Monday
how many are coming. With all the time and effort she puts into this,
including buying all the food, the least we can do is call her with a head
count. This is one of the highlights of the year and you don’t
want to miss it. And don’t forget to bring your pumpkins!!!
Our
2005 Popcorn Show and Sell campaign closed with sales totaling
at least $1700. Special thanks to all the boys who sold at our Kroger
campaigns and to those boys who sold door-to-door with immediate delivery!
Take order forms are due to Mrs. King no later than Monday, November 7.
If you have it ready before then, please call her. Remember to also
include your prize (s) request (you are allowed to include your show and
sell sales when figuring your prize level). Call Mrs. King with questions.
If everyone has filled at least one order form, we will reward the troop
with a pizza party!!!
We have another new scout among us. His name is Nick
E. His parents are Steve and Sherry. Let’s make Nick and his
family feel welcome. We always look forward to seeing the troop grow.
Joe
B.’s Eagle project succeeded without a hitch.
For those of you who turned out to help, thank you. I’m sure Joe
appreciated all of you who were able to attend and help out.
We currently have a few Eagle scout candidates who are working on finishing
up their merit badges. Let’s do what we can to help they reach
their goal. Remember, you too will need help when you get there.
Parents, have you taught anything yet on a Monday night?
We are still looking for any ideas you may have. Please let Mr.Witt
know and pick a Monday.
We
have a couple of things planned for December. December
10 the boys want to go to Urban Krag. Andy Bill will be in charge
of this with information forthcoming.
December 12 is the Holiday Party and Court of Honor. How many merit badges can you finish before then? Don’t forget to sign up for Scoutmaster’s Conference and Board of Review. More information will be forthcoming.
December 28/29 is the Sleep In at the church. Again, the Webelos are coming to attend this event and the boys always enjoy sleeping in at the church. If you can help, it would be appreciated.
This should take us through the end of the year. As you can see we have plenty planned. If you can help with anything, anything at all, please let any committee member know.
