Our Winter Court of Honor was held on Dec. 17.  We are proud to recognize our Scouts for earning the following advancements and merit badges:

Congratulations to Jimmy F. on achieving the rank of Tenderfoot.  Jimmy joined the Troop last spring, after being involved with Pack 55.  He did much of his advancement work at camp this summer, and has since finished his rank requirements.  He is currently taking part in the Merit Badge Trail being presented by BSA.  We commend him for his enthusiasm and hard work!

On July 9, 2001 Troop 55 held a Court of Honor.  Ranks and merit badges were awarded.  As parents and leaders, we welcomed this opportunity to show our Scouts how proud we are of their accomplishments.  We also bid good-bye to our long-time Scoutmaster, John Miller.  He has been with the troop, in the words of a sensitive volunteer, "longer than some of the scouts have been alive"!  We have all benefited from his dedication to, and passion for Scouting.  Although he is stepping down as Scoutmaster, he will remain involved with the Troop, and continue to contribute his "one hour a week".

    We welcome Dave Witt into the Scoutmaster position.  Dave has been involved first with Cubs, and then with Boy Scouts.  He brings with him a resilient sense of humor, a love of Scouting, and a belief that every boy can learn to be a leader.

Without the selfless support of our many adult volunteers, we would not be able to provide our Scouts with such wonderful experiences.  Thank you to Leroy, Bill, Kay, Cliff, Char, Iris, Steve, Denise, Bud, Jim, Dave (all of them!), Bryan, Betsy, Richard, Kevin, Pat, Carolyn and all the many others.
