On March 1, 2002 six Scouts and three adult leaders traveled to the Boy Scout Florida Sea Base for a week of adventure and learning in the Florida Keys. The Scouts were Nick, Bailey, Rodney, Caleb, and Ben, all of Troop 53. Peter of Troop 76 in Monroe, Louisiana also made the trips. Adult leaders were assistant Scoutmasters Mr. Gene and Mr. Ronnie and Scoutmaster Mr. Kelly. There were two centers of operation in the Keys and the Winnsboro crew was based at the Brinton Environmental Center, named after the businessman who donated the facility. It is located on US highway 1, 27 miles from Key West.

Here we are at the monument marking the "Southernmost Point" in the continental United States.
