Meetings
There are four main types of meetings in Cub
Scouts and they all have different schedules and different purposes.
These four meetings are Pack Nights, Den Meetings, Pack Outings, Committee
and Roundtable meetings—the last one is for adults only.
Pack Meetings
The biggest meetings are the monthly Pack Meetings where all Scouts and
their families are invited to attend. We have lots of Cub Scouts in our
Pack, so these can get kind of lively at times, but it’s a whole lot of
fun.
Pack Meetings are held once a month during the school year, usually the
third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM.
All Scouts, parents, and siblings of all
ages are encouraged to attend.
There are several reasons for Pack Meetings:
- Gives the Scouts a chance to display their
completed projects and show off what they’ve learned to their friends and family.
- The Scouts receive awards, badges, and other
recognition for their hard work during the past month.
- Promotes family communication and fun.
- Communicate other aspects of Scouting and
upcoming events.
- To build an appreciation that Scouts are part
of a community and that good citizenship means caring about your friends and neighbors.
Den Meetings
Pack Nights are fun, but it’s too hard to learn anything with so many
boys from different ages in one room. Since Scouting is designed
around activities that are age-appropriate to a boy’s development, most
of the “real”activities are done at the Den level.
A Den is comprised of 6-10 boys of the same grade
level who will be in the same group all the way through Cub Scouts.
Den meetings are small gatherings, usually held weekly or twice a month.
Den meetings are held at flexible times and are arranged to meet the needs
of the Scouts their parents and the availability of leaders.
Days, times, and meeting places are all decided upon
by the parents and Den Leader. These small group meetings can be after
school, in the evenings or weekends—whatever works best for the group.
Den meetings can be held in a home, a central meeting place or the meetings can
sometimes be a field trip like visiting a police station, fire station, or
nature center.
Pack Outings
Pack outings occur throughout the year at other area locations such as hiking
trips, picnics, special events, etc. and are fun events designed to be
enjoyable for the whole family.
Pack Committee & Leader Meetings
All committee members and leaders should attend this monthly meeting.
Parents are encouraged to attend. We discuss all Pack activities and would
appreciate input from other interested parents. Your voice and ideas help make Pack
105 stronger. Leader's meetings are usually held on the fourth Thursday of the
month at 7:30 PM.
