THIS MONTH'S OUTINGS Polaris District Camporee This year's theme is Harry Potter! When: Saturday and Sunday May 20-21st Meet at: 6:45 AM at Bubb Parking!!!! We need to meet early since the campsites are assigned first come- first served! Also, the access road is narrow so getting there early will allow the drivers to get in and get out more quickly. Where: Chesebrough Scout Reserve, 2 miles west of Skyline Blvd. off of Highway 9 Saturday, May 20th
Sunday May 21st
Scoring- ALL aspects of the troop and patrol’s participation during the ENTIRE camporee will be considered to determine their final score. Events will be worth the most; 100 points each, 60 for completion, 20 for spirit, 20 for leadership/teamwork. Uniform Inspection- All Scouts are expected to arrive in full Class-A uniform. There will be a uniform inspection Campsite - Don’t forget to keep your campsite clean! Staff will make rounds inspecting campsites during afternoon competitions. Clothing/Uniforms- Class A uniform is required at check-in, morning and evening flag ceremonies, and Scout’s Own Sunday morning. Scouts should wear Class B uniforms any other time. Awards-At the end of the camporee, the top Patrols will receive presidential ribbons. Second and Third Place ribbons will also be given out. (If a Troop enters with only one Patrol, its score will be averaged with the camporee median score.) The Silver Hatchet Award will be presented to the troop that best recreates this year’s theme. The Bronze Axe Award will be presented to the troop with the highest average score. Patches and T-shirts - Please pre-register by the deadline! Not only is it less expensive, but you will be guaranteed this year’s camporee patches and t-shirts. Scouts can use the t-shirts we used last year, if they have them. If Scouts want to order new t-shirts, it needs to be indicated (with sizes and quantities) in the registration form. Equipment-Pack your backpacks with everything you would bring on an ordinary campout. None of the meals will be provided, so be prepared. Medical Consent Forms and Tour Permits-Scoutmasters MUST bring medical consent forms for all participating Scouts and Cubs. A tour permit must also be filed at the Scout Service Center. Troops without the proper paperwork may not be able to participate. Trading Post-For those who are hungry, the Trading Post will be open during non-mealtime hours and will sell assorted candy, snacks, drinks, and camporee patches from previous years. Service Projects- A Scout is helpful. Service projects will be available for Troops who wish to lend a hand at camp. Points will be awarded to troops who sacrifice their time in service.
