2nd Class Requirement

5. Identify or show evidence of at least 10 kinds of wild animals (birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, mollusks) found in your community.

These are animals, not insects, slugs, arthropods, etc. The most common animals are birds. Remember, these must be 'wild' animals not pets.

1st Class Requirement

6. Identify or show evidence of at least 10 kinds of native plants found in your community.

These are 'native' plants not house or garden plants. The best time to do this requirement is in Spring when all of the plants are emerging from winter hibernation. The primary distinction between plants are the type of seeds that they produce.
