Venturing Venturing is for older scouts that desire a greater challenge in some of their outings. The requirements for participating in High Ventures is that the scout be at least 14 years old and be First Class or higher in rank. The troop has started a new Crew. For more information, see their temporary website at Venturing Crew 494 or talk to Mr. Toda or Mr. Fisher. The troop also does some high venture outings as part of regular outings. In the past, we hiked to the top of the Half Dome at Yosemite. The total hike covers about 18.5 miles if you start from the Happy Isles. Some of us started at Glacier Point which added over a mile. This turned out to be harder in some ways since we ended up hiking back up the Panorama Trail after a full day of hiking.
